L-1B visa allows international companies to send employees with "Specialized Knowledge" to their branches in the US and gain legal permit to work. To qualify for an L-1B visa, the visa recipient should have worked with the same specialized knowledge position for the company in its international branch for at least one year straight in the last three years. There is no educational requirement nor a wage requirement for an L-1B visa.

An L-1B visa is valid for 5 years and recipients can bring their families to the US on L-2 visa. L-1B visa holders must only work for the company that sponsored them and cannot have any part-time jobs nor can they engage in any type of business while staying in the US. While at L-1B visa, you are however allowed to invest in businesses, stocks, funds, and bonds. They can purchase properties in the US and are eligible for loans or other credit products.
